The Glico Running Man sign is probably the most famous photo spot in Osaka together with Osaka Castle. The sign first appeared in 1935 and used neon lights to promote local confectionary company Glico. The current sign is the sixth version and consists of 140,000 LED lights making it possible to display various designs on the same billboard.

Glico is a Japanese food company based in Osaka which is very famous for their sweets and chocolate products, for example the Pocky chocolate sticks, a Japanese classic.

The Glico Running Man sign is most likely the number one photo spots in Osaka. Nothing says "I'm in Osaka!" as much as a picture with the Glico Running Man in the background.
